Program Overview:
The master in Lighting Design & LED Technology aims to create professional profiles in the field of lighting design - in interiors, museums, hotels, show business, retail and urban exteriors. Attention is focused on analysis and synthesis of a methodological process toward the realization of a lighting solution. Technological innovation in the lighting field is critical. Particular attention is dedicated to Solid state lighting, with the intention to offer an objective point of view on the possibilities of these lighting technology. Also important are the socio-cultural aspects of designed lighting.

Curriculum:
The didactic program schedule is 400 hours of lessons for a total of 60 ECTS.
- 200 hours of didactics on fundamentals (Theory and techniques of light, Culture of light, Practice of Lighting Design, methods and tools of light planning, CAD modeling)
- 200 hours of project works on various aspects of light planning (interior, exterior, show, cultural heritage and retail)
- Followed by a 312 hours stage in offices or manufacturers of the lighting field.

Didactic unit 1 - Theory and technology of light - Physics fundamentals, Perception and color fundamentals, Electrical engineering, Measures in interiors and exteriors
Didactic unit 2 - Methods and tools of light planning - Illuminating engineering, Exercise of lighting, Methods of light planning, Norms and reliefs in interior
Didactic unit 3 - Modeling, representation end visualization - CAD modeling of environments, CAD estimation and representation of a lighting design plan, CAD exercise of planning
Didactic unit 4 - Culture and practice of lighting design - Seminars of light culture, Natural lighting, Fundamentals of ergonomic, Norms of exterior lighting
Didactic unit 5 - Project work: light for the show - Lighting for theater and live music show
Didactic unit 6 - Project work: lighting for the hotels - Lighting for hotel spaces: practical experience
Didactic unit 7 - Project work: lighting for exteriors - Projecting light for the city: participation to the L.E.D. competition of Milan
Didactic unit 8 - Project work: light for cultural heritage - Lighting for churches and museum spaces
Didactic unit 9 - Project work: lighting in interiors- Light planning in interiors for retail
Didactic unit 10 - Empowerment - English practice and Manufactures seminars
Entrance Requirements:
- The candidates must possess a bachelor degree in architecture, engineering, design or equivalent qualifications.
- For foreign candidates equivalent qualifications will be considered.
- The maximum number of participants will be 30.
- All the lectures will be given in Italian so the candidates must be in grade of comprehend and speak a fluent Italian.
